IDM Program Two
“Becoming a Developmentally Thinking Professional”
Program Two is for those who want to integrate the Constructive-Developmental Program (CDF) fully into their professional work. Participants in the program have sufficient courage to use the heightened awareness of their professional identity in forcefully developing their future career along idiosyncratic lines. This they do by experimenting with different applications of CDF, selecting volunteers for the purpose, and considering volunteers’ developmental profiles from different angles of interest to them.
More than holds for Program One, Program Two is foremost about YOU, not primarily about clients. Program Two is no longer about techniques, all of which you have already learned. It is rather a process in which you use CDF as a tool of self exploration. CDF thus becomes a tool for furthering your own particular career, either as a teacher, coach, consultant, or manager. It may even lead you to adopt another, so far secondary, career, or one not up to now considered.
In the company of members of this master class working as a cohort, you finally find your very own way of using the CDF methodology taught at IDM. You are free to use it entirely the way you want, as long as you follow the ethical guidelines and assessment principles associated with it. You are eligible to become a member of IDM Associates (IDMA), a group of graduates of IDM engaged in international teaching, coaching, consulting, management and translation tasks.
Compared to the process of self-exploration you engage with in Program Two, delivering three additional case studies is almost an afterthought. Program Two has three branches, depending on the emphasis you want to give your work, thus the Certificate you are aiming for:
- Module D[2] – see Certificate of Developmental Assessment
- Module E – Certificate of Developmental Interviewing/Supervision
- Module F – Certificate of Integrative Thinking in Management
In the first, the focus is on assessment. In E, it is on assessment-based interviewing and supervision, while in F it is on using CDF in the context of public administration or for-profit management.
