IDM Professional Development Programs

IDM Professional Development Courses fall outside of the well-known IDM certification programs One, Two, and Three. They are offered to those who want to deepen their practice through developmental expertise in such a way that the learning directly flows into their present practice. These courses are unique. They are not taught anywhere else in the world. Based on nearly 10 years of experience with teaching developmental thinking, they provide the practitioner with the best validated components of the tri-partite evidence-based perspective IDM is known for.

All courses are based on a comprehensive introduction to developmental thinking which is provided by Gateway, now a self study course. This introduction is followed by acquiring in-depth practical skills in process consulting, either cognitive, social-emotional, or both. In itself, this introduction is mind-changing, but instruction does not end there. Based on the acquired skills, the practitioner can enter various live tele-classes held as master classes in which the peer cohort is as important as the instructor. The offering of master classes is wide-scoped, reaching from “Leader as Coach” and “Coaching and Mentoring Supervision” to “Dialectical Thinking in Psychotherapy.”

The new courses provide a framework for a more structured encounter with clients than is conventionally sought. All of them deepen Edgar Schein’s work through which process consulting was first introduced. They re-energize consultants’ practice by enabling them to understand their clients more deeply and approach them more authentically. Partly based on self study, the courses challenge the adult learner to redefine her practice and re-invent herself. The associated live tele-classes offered bring what was studied on the page or screen to life for participants.
