IDM Interviewing and Scoring Supervision

Those who have learned to use the Constructive Developmental Framework through one or more case studies often feel, despite their acquired expertise, the need for being supervised and/or mentored. This happens especially in coaching cases that are either complex in themselves or are embedded in a complex corporate environment. Another cause for complexity could be psychological fragility of the client which might require referring the client to a clinical psychologist alongside the continuation of coaching.

For this eventuality, the author of CDF, Dr Otto Laske, offers coaches, and especially his Program One and Two graduates, supervision and mentoring services. These services comprise:

  1. sharing of interview experience
  2. sharing of scoring experience
  3. sharing of experience in linking the threefold CDF assessments
  4. sharing of experience in writing feedback reports
  5. sharing of experience in negotiating and focusing coaching plans based on assessment feedback
  6. holistic third-party case review from a combined psychological and developmental perspective
  7. advice on working with a particular client or group of clients
  8. advice on conveying assessment findings regarding particular clients in a way that safeguards the confidentiality of CDF assessments so that no harm to clients is done and coaching sponsors’ need to know is simultaneously satisfied
  9. introduction of developmental coaching programs in corporations
  10. introducing talent managers and HR directors to the specificity of CDF assessments, in preparation for using CDF as part of corporate policy.

Procedure

Supervision and mentoring differ in the following way:

  • Supervision: Dr Laske follows a particular coaching case over time
  • Mentoring: Dr Laske gives more general counsel regarding a coaching case at a particular point in time These two services may overlap.

Logistics

The minimum commitment to making use of CDF-based supervision and mentoring sessions comprises four 1 or 1 ˝ hr weekly or monthly sessions. If two or more coaches partake of a session, working together in discussing their coaching cases, cost is slightly reduced. Individual coaches as well as members of a supervision group meet based on a time-table agreed upon in advance. Coaches commit to sending information about their case to the supervisor/mentor in a timely fashion.

If coaches or members of coach groups commit to more than 4 sessions, costs are further reduced.

All payments are due prior to starting supervision. The total length of a supervision periods (for 4 or 2 sessions) is case-dependent but should not exceed 2 months (i.e., bi-weekly sessions).

The price of supervision over a 4-session period is presently US$725.00 for four 1 hr sessions and US$ US$1,000 for four 1˝ hr sessions. Supervision/mentoring session exceeding 4 meetings are calibrated for a pair of sessions, each pair costing US$350.00 for two 1 hour sessions and US$450 for two 1 ˝ hour sessions. See the different entries below.

When two or more coaches share supervision sessions, special fees obtain. Supervision groups should not exceed 4 supervisees.
